NewsReaders.com: Corporate Uses for Newsgroups/Usenet
I hope you will try Giganews for your news subscription -- especially by January 17, 2010!
Corporate uses for Newsgroups/Usenet:
- Intranet: Run an internal bulletin board for announcements and discussion. While urgent matters might be better suited to e-mail, subjects of ongoing discussion are perfect for newsgroups. Also, newsgroups can be used via web or e-mail as well as newsreader, if you configure your server that way or add gateways. Topics might be work related, social, internal tech support, etc.
- Support: Run your own news server for customers to discuss your products or request non-urgent technical support (where another customer might even answer the question for you!). See examples. As above, you can have a dual or triple interface if you wish, adding web or mail gateways for users to read and/or post.
- Usenet: Read what people are saying about your product, discussing about your industry, etc. Be careful, however, to make sure you and your staff know not to spam newsgroups or to advertise. While it is acceptable to answer posts about your product or even to suggest your product if appropriate in response to a post, you do not want to cross the line.
